A wooden spoon over a pot makes it impossible to boil over? BUSTED!

I'm sure you've seen it, heard of it, that if you put a wooden spoon over a pot while its boiling it can't boil over.  I am here to tell you that is NOT TRUE.  It will absolutely still boil over.  

Here is my example:

 

I understand the reasoning.  It makes the bubbles pop.  However, the wooden spoon does not pop enough, fast enough.  I will say that it postponed the boiling over but no more.
